Overview:
As a Phlebotomist in a leading medical center, you'll be at the forefront of patient interactions, responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens with precision and care. This role offers a rewarding chance to contribute to diagnostics and treatment, all while working in a supportive and professional setting. Your expertise will directly support effective lab testing and positive patient experiences.


Responsibilities:

• Collect venous and capillary blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures.
• Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Explain procedures to patients to foster comfort and trust, addressing any questions with professionalism.
• Maintain detailed documentation of specimen collection, patient data, and procedural notes.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely specimen processing.
• Support process improvements and demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency.
• Manage scheduling requirements and be flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Report any issues or concerns promptly to supervisors to ensure quality standards and patient safety.

Required Skills:

• At least 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting.
• Proven ability to perform safe, accurate blood draws in adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure error-free specimen collection and documentation.
• Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and professional approach to patient interactions.
• Proficiency in data entry and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating reliability and accountability.
• Capable of managing a fast-paced environment efficiently.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Certification in phlebotomy (preferred but not required in all states; required in California, Nevada, Washington).
• Medical assistant, paramedic training, or similar healthcare certifications.
• Experience working in retail or service environments emphasizing patient or customer interaction.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Up to 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred; candidates with medical assistant or clinical medical assistant background are encouraged to apply.
• Prior experience with pediatric and geriatric blood collection is highly valued.

Other Requirements:

• Reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite; candidates must live within a 20-25 minute commute.
• Must be flexible to work scheduled shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
• Demonstrate punctuality and full shift availability; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may lead to termination.
• Possession of current phlebotomy certification (if applicable), or willingness to obtain certification as required.
• Physical ability to perform blood draws and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety and health regulations.
