Summary: The Physician will work to improve the health and well-being of individuals. Evaluates symptoms, runs tests to diagnose a patient's condition and then prescribes medication or treatment to remedy the illness or injury. Counsels patients and/or members of the community on how to prevent illness.

- Provides patient medical services, which are limited to services within the training and experience of the practitioner
- Obtains complete, detailed, and accurate medical histories on patients. Reviews patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports
- Performs health assessments and physical examinations and records all pertinent patient data
- Interprets and integrates patient data, for the purposes of establishing presumptive diagnoses, and the general workup of the patient by ordering appropriate laboratory studies, radiological and
- Administers injections, immunizations, and oral medication. Sutures wounds. Prescribes, administers, and dispenses drugs in accordance with federal and state laws and standards of practice
- Provides instructions and guidance and counseling regarding medical care matters to patients and their families
- Arranges for referral or refers patients to needed services that cannot be provided to patients in the clinic
- Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs, as appropriate
- Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation, as requested
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations
- Monitors patients and provides continuity of care between visits
- Records complete and accurate chart entries on patient transactions, writing orders, and recording progress notes summarizing patient clinical care
- Provides input in hiring, disciplinary action, and termination of clinic personnel. Provides annual clinical evaluations of nursing, lab, and x-ray personnel employed by the clinic
- Oversees the mid-level practitioner(s) to assure clinical competence - may discipline up to, and including, termination of the employee. Provides annual clinical evaluations of the mid-level
- Co-directs the Quality Assurance Program in accordance with the clinic policies and procedures
- Assists with the annual program evaluation and chart audit
- Reviews the Nursing Protocols in conjunction with the mid-level practitioners
- Works with the RHC office manager in providing clear medical record documentation
- Must be at the clinic as scheduled, according to contractual agreement - must be available, at minimum, 40 hours during a one-week period
- Must make sure that the mid-level practitioner(s) have a physician back-up available when the physician is not present
- Maintains a cooperative attitude with clinic personnel, physicians, and patients, and families (as needed) to enhance the continuity of care and a positive working environment
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control - offers recommendations for revisions at least annually
- Attends scheduled department staff and clinical meetings
- Exercises utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to Clinic policies and HIPAA requirements
- Successful Completion of medical school
- Current certification as a physician with the Oklahoma Board of Medicine
- Current OBN Licensure
- Current DEA Licensure
- Current CPR certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate
- Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certificate
- Minimum of 5 years in private or group practice: pediatrics, family practice, general practice, or internal medicine, preferred
- The ability to assess and evaluate patient needs
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills
- Demonstrate professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with the computer system
- A willingness to provide care for all socioeconomic levels, races, and religions
- The ability to work within the health care team as a productive team member
- The willingness to lead the team
- Above average interpersonal communication skills required: ability to deal with the public, patients, and fellow staff in a pleasant and professional manner
- Knowledge of professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care
- Knowledge of the organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply treatment protocol guidelines and procedures
- Ability to recognize medical condition requiring consultation with the collaborating physician, and to work with the collaborating physician, in person or by phone, on these and other cases outside
