LEGISLATIVE ANALYST

This position is located in the Defense Legal Services Agency (DLSA), with duty in the Office of the Deputy General Counsel (Legislation, Investigation and Oversight) (DGC(LIO), Department of War. The General Counsel of the Department of War, who is appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, is the chief legal officer of the Department of War and performs such functions as the Secretary of War may prescribe (10 U.S.C. § 113 and 140). In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Display analytical judgment, broad subject matter awareness, and the ability to manage complex, sensitive, and time critical assignments; and Perform a wide range of duties in support of attorneys and senior staff, including legislative coordination across diverse programs and activities; and Prepare memorandums, briefings, and information papers summarizing the impact for assigned areas of responsibility. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., PeaceCo​​rs, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
