The Senior Trust Settlement Officer administers and executes the full lifecycle of trust settlements following triggering events such as death, resignation, removal of trustee, or age-based terminations. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant distribution of trust assets in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and applicable laws, while coordinating closely with clients, internal partners and external stakeholders. The Senior officer will also supervise more junior team members.Core ResponsibilitiesInitiate and lead settlement process of irrevocable trusts upon triggering eventsCoordinate strategy meetings with relationship teamsReview and analyze trust agreements and related documents, account files, and imaging systems for all relevant provisions and historical contextDetermine appropriate method of settlement and identify and minimize risk consistent with policiesCommunicate directly with beneficiaries and interested parties concerning the settlement process and expectationsCoordinate settlement process with internal and external counselIdentify, value and liquidate trust assetsCoordinate with Tax team on federal and state income, estate, and fiduciary tax mattersEnsure compliance with jurisdictional requirements, internal policies, and fiduciary standardsFacilitate distributions and post-settlement activitiesPrepare and archive files in accordance with records management policiesQualifications7+ years of experience in trust administration or fiduciary services with direct client interactionsStrong knowledge of trust and estate law, fiduciary accounting, and tax considerationsJD, CTFA or similar designation preferredStrong attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbilitytomanagecomplex,multi-stepprocessesacrossmultipleaccountsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsProficientintrustaccountingsystemsLearn More: Click below to learn more about Fiduciary Trust –Fiduciary Trust InternationalThe Story of Fiduciary Trust InternationalFranklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary — designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results.
