DIRECTOR OF SAFETY

This position is designed and intended to be performed on‑site in Muscatine, IA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and develop Safety Coordinators and site safety programs, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, and influencing outcomes across teams.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and lead a world‑class, zero‑harm safety strategy across multiple operational sites.
• Drive a proactive safety culture that builds engagement, ownership, and accountability at all levels.
• Standardize and deliver impactful safety training and awareness programs across facilities.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify gaps and strengthen controls.
• Ensure full safety compliance with OSHA and all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Partner with operations to proactively identify and mitigate safety hazards and risks.
• Lead safety incident investigations (accidents, near‑misses) and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee safety programs including emergency response, workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work, and safety leadership development initiatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in safety management, with a strong track record of leading safety programs for multiple operational sites.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to build positive safety cultures and promote employee engagement and accountability.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation, and loss control.
• Ability to travel and work at multiple operational sites across the United States.
• Proven experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and investigations.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing safety programs.
