Position Summary: JMT is seeking a Utility Coordinator to join their Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina Utility Coordination Team. The successful candidate will be responsible under close or moderate supervision, to perform utility coordination duties in planning, designing, contacting, and directing utility owners’ relocation efforts as it pertains to proposed roadway and bridge improvement projects. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Analyze survey information, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical data such as hydraulics design to plan and design utility relocation(s) Organize and review design information from multiple utility sources for accuracy; determine if design meets or exceeds project specifications Conduct meetings as necessary to successfully reach schedule milestones Uses computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare Utility by Others plans and associative documents Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Strong oral and written communication skill Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening Valid Driver's License Required Required Experience 3 - 5 years related experience in utility coordination with NCDOT or municipal projects is required Experience with NCDOT Utility Relocation Agreements and Encroachment Agreements or municipal agreement documents is required Exceptional organizational skills are required Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, Microsoft Teams, and other design software High school diploma or equivalent is required, advanced education is preferred Preferred Experience Related experience Working Conditions Work is performed in the field 30% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Work is performed within a general office environment 70% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
