Role Overview
This DevOps Engineer sits within a client-delivery organization and is accountable for executing customer engagements that pair strong technical outcomes with a high standard of client experience. The person in this role is expected to stay fluent in current industry practices and to represent the organization well in front of customers, bringing thoughtful, durable solutions to every engagement.

Core Responsibilities

Standing Up DevOps Capability

• Evaluate how the customer currently builds and ships software, then chart a phased plan for raising their DevOps maturity over time.
• Introduce source-control discipline - Git workflows, branching conventions, and repository governance - in a setting where formal version control has not previously existed.
• Author and maintain the standards that govern how pipelines, environments, and releases are handled.

CI/CD Delivery

• Build and operate end-to-end CI/CD pipelines that compile, validate, and ship .NET workloads onto AWS, drawing on tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
• Script repeatable redeployment so that each migration wave carries less manual overhead and lower release risk.
• Wire automated test stages into the pipeline so application behavior is checked once a deployment lands.

Infrastructure Automation

• Use Infrastructure as Code - AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, or Terraform - to express AWS environments that are reproducible and auditable.
• Stand up AWS resources programmatically - storage, databases, networking, and compute - to back both redeployment work and steady-state operations.
• Keep all infrastructure definitions under version control and subject to peer review.

Migration & Redeployment Support

• Help move bespoke .NET applications onto AWS, working from the installation and redeployment material that already exists.
• Partner with architects and developers to find and fix hardcoded hostnames, IP addresses, and network references buried in code and configuration.
• Contribute to planning and running migration waves - building environments, sequencing deployments, and validating results.
• Assist with backup, restore, and verification for Microsoft SQL Server on AWS, whether on RDS or hosted on EC2.
• Write and upkeep the runbooks and cutover steps that accompany every wave.

Networking & Connectivity

• Help catalog the routing, firewall rules, and network dependencies that must be rebuilt or substituted in AWS, and document them.
• Pitch in on hostname, IP, and DNS cleanup as the infrastructure cuts over.

Observability & Cost Optimization

• Set up logging, alerting, and monitoring with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and adjacent services so the environment is observable once migrated.
• Apply tagging schemes that feed cost allocation and capacity planning.
• Help produce rightsizing guidance and spend analysis grounded in how each workload actually behaves.

Security & Compliance

• Apply sound AWS security across what gets deployed - least-privilege IAM, well-scoped security groups, and encryption standards.
• Help implement the security and compliance posture suited to a mission-critical, regulated operating environment.
• Confirm that delivered environments satisfy the customer's regulatory and operational obligations.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Roughly four to seven years in a DevOps or SRE capacity within AWS and/or supporting engineering teams, to include at least four years building AWS cloud infrastructure and at least four years constructing CI/CD pipelines (for example with GitHub, Jenkins, and similar).
• Hands-on container orchestration across Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Helm, and CRDs.
• A solid command of current AWS cloud security practices.
• Practical, confident experience with both Docker and Linux.
• Fluency writing Infrastructure as Code (for instance, AWS CloudFormation or Terraform).
• Comfort scripting configuration management with tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
• Working proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages - for example Go, Python, Java, C++, Ruby, .NET, or Swift.
• A demonstrable grounding in Agile ways of working.
• Careful attention to detail.
• Strong communication and the ability to manage your own time well.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications - Certified Kubernetes Administrator (a strong plus), AWS Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional, and the like.
• Embedding code-analysis and test tooling such as SonarQube and Selenium into pipelines, covering both static and dynamic analysis.
• Production GitOps exposure - Git, ArgoCD and app-of-apps patterns, plus observability tooling like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Background on public-sector engagements, including familiarity with FISMA.
• Exposure to Kubernetes service mesh designs, ISTIO for example.
• Deep familiarity with routing and networking inside AWS.
• A graduate degree in an engineering or information-systems discipline.
• A track record of open-source contribution.
