(LVN) Sr. Licensed Vocational Nurse - Urology

DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the Urology clinic, a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes prioritizing and assisting in the patient triage process, preparing and assisting with urology examinations, administering medications, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, providing patient education, and assisting with rooming and vital intake of patients when needed. The position also involves pre-procedure data collection, assisting physicians and the team during procedures, and assisting in the post-procedure recovery area. The role functions within the state of California and UCSD scope of practice, administering medications and participating in patient and family education before and after procedures. Additionally, the LVN assists with sterile processing of instruments and room turnover, all in compliance with UCSD MCPs. The position requires initiative, the ability to work in a busy environment, prioritize critical demands, and collaborate with a team. Job standards are to be performed at the expert level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience. In‑depth Urological Provider and Nurse Clinic Procedure experience within the last 6 months. Ability to perform IC treatments in a fast‑paced, high‑volume clinic environment. Demonstrated ability to work with precision and patience while delivering high‑quality, compassionate care across diverse patient populations. Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual: English/Spanish. ACLS and/or ART certification. Ambulatory Care experience. Experience with Urology nursing procedures such as catheter changes and bladder installations. Experience with sterile processing of instruments. Experience with urology procedures, including prostate biopsies and cystoscopies. Experience with EPIC/electronic medical records. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65 Factors determining the appropriate compensation for this role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
