Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a Middle School Life Skills classroom in Eugene, Oregon. About the Role

Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides quality educational services to students with special needs. The teacher will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop and implement individualized educational programs, provide specialized instruction, and partner with general education staff to support student success.

This position is within a Middle School Life Skills Program serving students with significant support needs. Candidates should be comfortable working in a high-needs environment where challenging behaviors may occur and have experience implementing effective classroom management and behavioral support strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEP-driven instruction

• Deliver specialized academic and functional life skills instruction

• Collaborate with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams

• Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation

• Support students with behavioral and social-emotional needs

• Participate in team meetings and educational planning

• Provide consultation and support to general education staff

Minimum Requirements

• Active Oregon Special Education Teaching License

• Ability to work onsite for the duration of the school year

• Previous experience working in Life Skills and/or behavioral classrooms

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certification

• Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred

• Current CPR certification if applicable

• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

• Reliable attendance, transportation, and communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in self-contained special education settings

• Strong behavioral intervention and classroom management skills

• Experience working with students requiring high levels of support

• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation

• Collaborative and team-oriented approach

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
