Senior Field Service TechnicianAs a Senior Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for driving the implementation of our innovative water and vapor treatment technologies in the field along with supporting the operations pilot demonstration units. This position will partner with Project Managers when jobs are awarded to review project scope of work, roles and responsibilities, and project safety. Additionally, this position will apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental problems, including waste treatment and site remediation, under the direction of engineering staff or scientists. This position may assist in the development of environmental remediation devices.The annual compensation range for this role is $80,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.This position is based in Portland, ME.A Day in the LifeReporting to the Field Services Project Manager, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:Leads and independently performs complex field engineering and technical activities, including equipment inspections, startup and commissioning support, fabrication progress evaluations, vendor and supplier site audits, construction inspections, field verification measurements, site assessments, troubleshooting, and comprehensive data collection efforts.Serves as a technical lead in the field by coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives.Performs operations and maintenance (O&M) of various types of environmental treatment equipment including pumps, filters, tanks, pressure vessels, and other types of process unit operations.Posses a general understanding of system hydraulics, mechanical operation/functionality and instrumentation/electrical control schemesSupport fabrication activities, as well as hands-on set-up of bench and pilot testing equipmentExecutes piping/skid fabrication in the shop and field, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical system issues or failuresCollects samples using a variety of sampling methods and operates field monitoring equipment including but not limited to: PID/FID, pH, EC, DO, GEM, turbidity, water level, and LEL metersMeasures and records treatment operational data by carefully documenting monitoring and testing results on field forms and prepares field daily reports and data sheetsConducts field monitoring, sampling, testing, and basic evaluations; maintains chain-of-custody documentation and regulatory sample handling protocols; and records inspection data in electronic spreadsheets and reportsEnsures proper labeling and handling of hazardous material and wasteExercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programsCommunicates promptly with Project Managers and various stakeholders to inform of site conditions and activitiesInteracts with clients acting as a front-line representative of the company, presents a professional appearance, and wears appropriate PPE on job sitesParticipate in the company's continuous improvement programs and provide support to team effortsKeep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal trainingPerform other duties as assignedYour Expertise and SkillsTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.High School Diploma or equivalent5+ years of experience performing mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluationMust possess a valid Class C driver's license with a clean driving record and have reliable transportation for travel to project and job sites.NFPA70E Training or the willingness to complete.Ability/willingness to travel up to 75%Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40 hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classesMust have the ability to lift 50 pounds such as monitoring equipment and tools, with or without assistanceProficient with Microsoft Office softwareBe able to deliver and receive electronic documentsAbility to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/managementStrong problem solving and analytical skillsSolid organization and time/project management skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills, must have legible handwritingAble to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with supervision of construction projectsBackground in electrical, plumbing or other mechanical trades. Electrical background preferred.Competence in HVAC, mechanical and electrical.Ability to operate systems via PLC SCADA.Associate's Degree in Environmental Studies from an accredited university or a technical certificationWorking ConditionsPhysical DemandsWhile performing the in-office responsibilities of the job, the employee may be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, and is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.While performing the out of office field responsibilities for the job, the employee will be required to travel up to 75% of the time. Typically out of state, Monday to Friday travel. There may be occasional multiple week operations stints which will be compensated with flexible off time during home periods. There may be occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor of supplies and materials weighing no more than 50 pounds. The work may involve some bending, standing or walking.Work EnvironmentModerate exposure to environmental conditions that impact physical comfort such as temperature extremes while performing field work is possible.
