Retail Sales Senior Specialist (Full Time), Wayfair Stores

Salary Range: $21.00 per hour NOTE: The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. While our system may display a pay range, this role’s starting rate is non‑negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.

Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first several weeks, you will work alongside the team to help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which will look different from your long‑term day‑to‑day responsibilities. This hands‑on, team‑first experience helps bring our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors to the community and our customers.

As a Senior Specialist of Sales & Retail Engagement, you’ll take the lead in driving store performance and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Reporting to the Department Manager, you’ll serve as a trusted mentor to Sales Associates and Specialists while modeling top‑tier selling behaviors. With a deep knowledge of home furnishings, design, and consultative sales, you’ll help shape the customer journey from inspiration to purchase. Your leadership and energy will foster a results‑driven, customer‑focused culture, helping both your team and store meet key goals.

What Does a Senior Specialist of Sales & Retail Engagement Do?

• Drive Sales Leadership & Result: Exceed individual KPIs and sales targets while coaching the team toward consistent, strong performance.
• Lead by Example on the Floor: Showcase expert product knowledge and consultative selling to inspire customers and teammates alike.
• Mentor Sales Associates & Specialists: Coach team members on selling strategies, customer engagement, and in‑the‑moment service execution.
• Foster Collaboration & Team Energy: Contribute to a positive, inclusive environment by encouraging shared wins and cross‑functional partnership.
• Deliver Exceptional Customer Experiences: Tailor each interaction by understanding customer needs and recommending personalized solutions across platforms.
• Champion Product Expertise: Stay current on furniture trends, new launches, and design concepts to support customer education and sales.
• Support Operational Excellence: Assist with floor sets, replenishment, and store presentation standards to create a seamless shopping experience.

What are the Job Requirements?

• Leadership & Coaching Experience: 2–4 years of experience leading or mentoring teams in a fast‑paced, goal‑driven retail or design setting.
• Sales & Customer Engagement Expertise: A proven track record of exceeding sales targets through proactive, solution‑based customer interactions.
• Business Acumen & Strategy: Strong ability to analyze KPIs and apply insights to improve individual and team performance.
• Product & Design Knowledge: Comfort and confidence working with home furnishings and design solutions, with a passion for style and function.
• Exceptional Communication Skills: Clear, thoughtful communication skills that elevate both customer interactions and team collaboration.
• Problem‑Solving Agility: Adaptable, quick‑thinking, and able to manage multiple priorities without compromising service quality.
• Tech Savvy: Experience using CRM systems, design tools, POS, and Microsoft or Google Suite tools to drive results.
• Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on evolving business needs.

Additional Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
• Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
• Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
• Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
