Sr. Footwear Product Developer

On-site role at PHK; typical work hours, 4/1 hybrid schedule. 1-2 times a week there may be a need for an evening call with other geos. Contract is to help cover FTE leave; will run ~1 year from start. Potential for travel (HM mentioned 2 potential trips, domestic and international). Degree preferred, not required. 5+ years' experience minimum preferred, ideally in performance footwear development. Top must-have skills include the following: - Project management skills - Excellent communication skills - Proven record of creating a project plan and holding people accountable. Desired soft skills: - Ambitious - Deadline-oriented - Self-starter - Confidence in influencing and communicating to teammates - Accountability. Skills that would make a candidate stand out: - Footwear development experience, specifically at Client (or similar brand) - Model view reading abilities (3D CAD) - Connection to/passion for basketball (previous wear testing, athlete experience, etc.) - Will help develop basketball footwear in a fast-paced environment. Will work on signature athlete products, so confidentiality and discretion are key. - Will work with ~8 other developers on a direct team; lots of cross functional work between color and design teams, PLM, other geos, etc. - HM anticipates 2 rounds of interviews; likely 1 virtual, 1 on-site - Please note that this is a development role, not design; candidates must be familiar with the process of footwear development, not just the initial design portion.

What You Will Work On

As our Sr. Footwear Product Developer at CLIENT, you'll drive product and process excellence within a team environment for your assigned projects. Working on complex footwear projects, you will convert a project brief and a 2D design rendering into a 3D sample that meets the needs of the consumer as well as the needs of the business. You'll utilize your knowledge and experience to enhance product excellence. You'll engage in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are managed according to critical dates and completed on time, while meeting design intent, performance goals, costing/profitability and sustainability targets. In addition, you'll ensure that your projects are ready for the commercialization process and can ultimately be manufactured.

Who You Will Work With

As a member of the Footwear Team, you will work collaboratively with key functional partners throughout the Product Development process. This includes Footwear Engineering, Footwear Product Testing, Footwear Material Design and Material Development, Product Design, Product Management, Product Merchandising, Sourcing and Operations, and our overseas partners – both within CLIENT and external to CLIENT. You will need to navigate the Client matrix to ensure that our processes model and match CLIENT Footwear Development standard methodologies for product excellence. You are the key point of contact for our overseas partners and ensure that communication during the product development process is clear and accurate.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Product Development, Engineering or related field. Will accept suitable combination of education, experience or training with footwear experience. Demonstrated understanding of footwear pattern engineering, tooling, and manufacturing processes. A minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience. Effective Collaborator adept at working productively within a team. Experience building trust to collaborate with internal and external partners. Experience facilitating meetings, driving consensus, and influencing others. Ability to prioritize multiple work streams and competing priorities. Proven verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives. Proven Ability to identify & suggest cost effective solutions in footwear is preferred. Experience in project management, problem-solving scenarios and applying solutions. Creative problem-solving skills. Demonstrated Self Starter that is willing to learn and grow. A demonstrated ability to tinker, to create prototypes, to explore, learn, and to find ways to improve products through physically altering their state. Ability to read technical drawings, sketches and/or 3D digital files. Basic knowledge of materials, test methods, and properties and application.
