Registered Nurse RN Observation PCU

Location Sun City, Arizona Job Summary Registered Nurse in our Telemetry unit focused on Observation status patients. This fast‑paced environment combines the diagnostic work‑ups and care needs of the Telemetry setting with the rapid evaluation, testing and interventions required for patients transitioning from the ED to Observation. You will work with physicians, case management, and experienced nurses to determine safe discharge or movement to inpatient units. Responsibilities Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history and physical, diagnostic and laboratory data; and submit abnormal findings to physicians. Formulate and initiate a patient‑specific plan of care, including a realistic, measurable discharge plan, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; revise plans as patient status changes. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health‑care team; adhere to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed and ensuring progress toward goals. Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation promptly and accurately in the patient record. Provide evidence‑based care, participate in research activities, and contribute to unit or facility shared leadership; mentor and orient new staff when appropriate. Improve patient outcomes through participation in national nursing quality initiatives and professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow when applicable to the role. Interact with all levels of staff and external contacts to clarify information and provide spiritual support when requested. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license (or temporary/interim/compact) in the state of practice. BLS certification. Minimum of one year of acute‑care experience; experience in the specialty area within the past 12 months is required. For home‑health positions, a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle. For behavioral health positions, required fingerprint clearance cards and criminal history affidavits per state regulations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Professional certification.
