Electro-Mechanical Assembler -- 1st ShiftMetals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking an ELECTRO-MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries.Responsibilities:Reads, interprets, and follows basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and other written instructions to accurately assemble product.Utilizes handheld tools such as a hand-held screw and drill gun.Assembles parts using automatic wire cutter, crimping or grinding machines.Assembles motors, pumps or compressors using press fixtures, pneumatic guns or hand tools.Performs end-of-line tests using computer-based equipment.Performs spot checks of products to ensure adherence to approved quality standards.Certifications/Licenses:Valid OSHA Forklift certificationPhysical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bendRegularly performs repetitive tasksPhysical dexterity to put parts togetherLift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistanceOther Physical Requirements:Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)Steel-toed bootsHard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouseProtective eyewearHand protectionArm guards/sleevesVisual Acuity requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusHearing protection if required by the hearing conservation programWork Environment:May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.Working inside of the warehouseModerate to loud noise levelsVibrationOils, dust, fumes and metallic particlesDay and night shiftsTwo-year technical degree and/or apprenticeship3 -- 5 years of electro-mechanical assembly; should have prior wire installation experienceMust have mechanical & mathematical aptitudeAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents and blueprints.Ability to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gaugesComputer Literacy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAMMetals USA offers a competitive starting hourly range of $20.00 - $ 23.00.
