Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Medical-Surgical / Telemetry RN – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour nights, 18:45–07:15, 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Contract length: 13–26 weeks available.

Highlights:

• Higher-acuity medical-surgical unit with PCU and telemetry patients; target ratios 1:4–5 (may reach 1:6 in extreme situations)
• 48-bed unit specializing in respiratory conditions: COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, chest tubes, CPAP, BiPAP, and chronic trach/vent patients
• Strong interdisciplinary support including admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, respiratory therapists, RRT, code team, and behavioral health team
• EMR system: Epic, with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
• 24-hour orientation provided; float requirements to similar units as needed
• Patient population includes COVID-19, influenza, and pulmonary embolism; telemetry monitoring and management of dysrhythmias required

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS and BLS (required); NIHSS (preferred)
• Experience with IV starts, ventilators, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Ability to manage chest tubes, cardiac drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin), trachs, and ventilated patients
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Strong teamwork approach and ability to adhere to attendance policies
