Part-time Research Project Coordinator

Department: Med-DevSci Salary/Grade: EXS/5 Location: Chicago, Illinois Salary Range: $28.73-$33.52 per hour (target hiring range; actual determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, and market data). Job Summary The Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences (DevSci) seeks a highly motivated individual for a 0.50 FTE research project coordinator position supporting the Supporting Kids with Irritability in Language Learning (SKILL) study (PI Brittany Manning, PhD, CCC‑SLP). The SKILL study employs a community‑engaged, co‑design process to adapt and implement socio‑emotional/behavior management support strategies in early language intervention. Responsibilities include recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting community partner interviews and focus groups, developing and distributing research surveys, and assisting in the design of online clinician training materials. Additional tasks may involve IRB‑related activities, REDCap database management, and data analysis. Opportunities for co‑authoring scientific publications and posters are available. The role is suited for individuals with expertise in early childhood development, mental health, or language development and prior experience in a clinically focused research setting. This hourly, part‑time position (0.50 FTE, 20 hours per week) is hybrid with regular in‑office requirements and may occasionally include evening and weekend hours as needed for participant availability. Technical Responsibilities Recruits study participants. Reviews and obtains informed consent. Schedules study visits with participants. Conducts interviews and focus groups. Facilitates communication with key personnel to maintain project study flow. Assists in the design of clinician training materials. Assists in community outreach and dissemination. Administrative Responsibilities Maintains detailed records of study data. Assists in IRB activities. Performs scientific literature searches. Completes portions of grant applications & documents related to federal, state, local regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws, and research protocols. Finance Responsibilities Manages participant payment. Supervision Responsibilities Acts as a mentor in the education of junior coordinators. Miscellaneous Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a full 4‑year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in social or health science (e.g., psychology, child development, speech‑language pathology). Prior research study experience, preferably in a clinically focused research program. Completion of NU’s IRB CITI training before interacting with participants and re‑certification every 3 years. Minimum Competencies Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills, in person and via phone/web/Zoom. Comfort working directly with participants and community partners. Exceptional organizational, time‐management, attention to detail and personal accountability. Proficient with Microsoft Office and accurate data entry. Training/knowledge in early child development. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a social or health science major (e.g., psychology, child development, speech‑language pathology). Experience with project and database management. Experience working with clinicians, families, and other community partners. Preferred Competencies Knowledge of the Illinois Early Intervention program.
