Assistant Cafe Manager - Olathe East High School, 6:00am - 2:30pm, 8 hours Olathe, KS, United States Job Description Position Title: Food Service Assistant Manager Department / Location: Food Service Hours of Work: 8.0 Hour Daily / 167 Calendar Days Yearly Status: Classified $18.50 high school Position Summary: This role supports food service activities at the assigned location, organizing food preparation activities and assisting at other locations as needed. The assistant manages and oversees Food Service Staff with confirmation of quantity and quality of food, food preparation, serving items, and maintains written reports to ensure compliance with mandated health requirements. This position reports to the Food Services Cafe Manager. Primary Duties / Responsibilities Assist scheduling assignments and work hours for Food Service Staff. Onboard newly hired employees to work center and school site processes. Complete and document transactions, process receipts, and prepare bank deposits. Evaluate prepared food for appearance, flavor, and temperature. Implement menu plans that meet students' mandated daily nutritional requirements. Inspect and inventory orders, confirming quality, quantity, and specifications. Maintain a sanitary food service environment complying with current health standards. Assist in managing food service operations to health and meet mandated standards. Monitor food service operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment. Oversee cooking, preparation, serving, and transportation of food and beverage items. Prepare documentation in the form of records, reports, sheets, and summaries. Respond to inquiries from the community, staff, and students regarding food services. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Restaurant or retail management experience preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility. Demonstrated ability in analyzing, compiling, and organizing data. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment. Highly collaborative team player. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.). Ability to self‑initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results. Physical Requirements This position requires the performance of medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing and significant finger dexterity. The position involves occasional crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, and stooping. This job is performed under temperature extremes and in some hazardous conditions.
