Lead Locator

The Lead Locator is responsible for overseeing utility locating operations to ensure accurate identification and marking of underground utilities in compliance with state laws, company standards, and client requirements. This role combines hands-on locating work with leadership duties, including training, quality control, scheduling support, and acting as a point of contact between field crews, management, and clients.Supervisory Responsibilities:Lead, mentor, and support utility locator team membersProvide on-the-job training and guidance for new and existing locatorsConduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of locate workAssist with scheduling, workload balancing, and route planningDuties & Responsibilities:Perform accurate locating and marking of underground utilities (gas, electric, communications, water, sewer, etc.) using appropriate equipment and methodsInterpret utility maps, records, and as-builts to determine utility locationsEnsure all markings comply with state One Call laws, color codes, and company standardsRespond to emergency locate requests as neededServe as a liaison between field staff, supervisors, contractors, and clientsHandle escalated locate issues and assist with problem resolutionComplete and submit accurate documentation, reports, and ticketsRequired Education / Experience & Qualifications:Valid Driver’s LicenseHigh School training or equivalentStrong attention to detailPassion for accuracySelf-motivated and able to work aloneStrong communication skills with the publicAbility to follow instructionsPreferred Education / Experience & Qualifications:Prior lead, supervisor, or trainer experienceDamage prevention or utility certification(s)Physical Requirements:Outdoor field work in all weather conditionsMay include travel within assigned service areaOn-call or overtime may be requiredMust have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areasMust be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time #J-18808-Ljbffr Priority Dispatch Corp.
