Mechanical Design EngineerApex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based out of Greensboro, NC.This assignment is anticipated to be a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment. This will also have a first-shift Monday–Friday schedule.Responsibilities:Lead and support mechanical design activities for components, systems, and product development initiatives from concept through release.Design technical solutions that meet functional, performance, quality, cost, manufacturing, regulatory, and timing requirements.Develop and evaluate mechanical concepts, designs, and engineering solutions based on project objectives and product requirements.Integrate deliverables from multiple engineering disciplines and ensure overall design quality, readiness, and release maturity.Perform engineering analyses and design reviews to validate product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and project management.Support product roadmap development by providing technical expertise, design recommendations, and lessons learned from previous programs.Drive resolution of technical issues and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the product lifecycle.Contribute to innovation initiatives, technology investigations, and future product development activities.Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, research organizations, universities, and industry groups when applicable.Support design standardization, knowledge sharing, and engineering best practices across the organization.Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.Experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience in a product development or manufacturing environment.Experience designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.Ability to lead engineering activities and coordinate deliverables across multiple stakeholders.Strong understanding of engineering design principles, manufacturing processes, materials, and product development methodologies.Experience working with product requirements, engineering specifications, validation activities, and design releases.Ability to balance technical, cost, quality, timing, and manufacturing considerations when developing solutions.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams.Experience supporting product releases and ensuring engineering readiness.Nice to Have:Experience with CAD modeling and product development tools.Experience supporting large, complex mechanical systems or industrial equipment.Exposure to advanced engineering analysis, testing, or validation activities.Experience contributing to technology roadmaps, innovation programs, or advanced development projects.Previous experience mentoring engineers or serving as a technical lead.Why Work for Apex Systems:We offer weekly pay, direct deposit, competitive pay ratesHealth/Medical benefits, Life Insurance, 401k, Employee Stock Purchase ProgramDiscounts to most major certification programs, access to multiple technical training platforms and programsApex Benefits Overview:Apex offers a range of supplemental benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other insurance plans that offer an optional layer of financial protection.
