Construction Inspector – U.S. Coast Guard Airfield Project

Elizabeth City, NC | Full-Time | Onsite

Ozell Services is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support a major U.S. Coast Guard runway recapitalization project at USCG Base Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

The selected Construction Inspector will provide full-time onsite oversight of a large-scale airfield improvement project involving runway reconstruction, pavement replacement, drainage improvements, runway extension, lighting upgrades, signage installation, and associated infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily construction inspections and surveillance activities

• Monitor contractor compliance with plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards

• Document construction progress through reports, photographs, and field observations

• Identify deficiencies and communicate findings to Government project representatives

• Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders

• Support schedule monitoring and quality assurance efforts throughout construction

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of construction inspection, quality control, superintendent, or construction management experience

• Experience supporting federal construction projects (USACE, NAVFAC, FAA, Coast Guard, DoD, or similar)

• Airfield, runway, paving, civil/site, transportation, utility, or heavy infrastructure experience preferred

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Strong written communication and reporting skills

• Experience with construction management software and digital reporting tools preferred

Project Information:

• Full-time onsite position (40 hours/week)

• Overtime may be required based on project activities and construction schedules

• Long-term federal construction project
