The Technician, Utility Mapping is responsible for accurately locating and marking underground gas utilities to support safe excavation and compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves traveling to multiple sites daily, performing precise locates, and maintaining thorough documentation while adhering to safety protocols. What you will do: Accurately locate and mark underground gas utilities in accordance with local 811 laws and CFR 192 standards. Navigate to multiple job sites daily and manage tickets using Ticket Management Systems. Document locates with required photos and maintain detailed records. Exercise Stop Work Responsibility when unsafe conditions are identified. Communicate clearly and effectively with contractors, customers, and team members. Follow damage prevention protocols and operator qualification requirements. Position tools and materials in various locations. Traverse job sites having uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches. Move materials weighing up to 75 pounds periodically. Conduct visual assessments of task quality and job site safety. Perform other duties as assigned. What you will bring: Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelors degree preferred). Experience: 13 years of experience in utility locating, natural gas distribution, or related field. Familiarity with construction, excavation, and site safety. Familiarity with natural gas systems and related regulations (CFR 192) preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid driver's license with clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle required. Software: Proficiency in computer-based technology and ability to learn new systems/software related to the role. Microsoft Suite Products (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.). Working Conditions/Schedule/Location: Primarily field-based role must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Must be able to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager. Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory. Travel may be required.
