Direct Support Professional

As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide respectful and compassionate support to individuals in group homes and other community locations. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering independence and promoting dignity for those you serve. Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and cooking nutritious meals. Provide support in maintaining a clean and safe living environment. Help individuals engage in social and recreational activities in the local community. Implement service plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Provide respectful support while adhering to privacy regulations. Administer medications at scheduled times. Assist individuals with mobility, including lifting and transferring when necessary. Offer companionship and emotional support. Document daily activities and any changes individuals experience as required. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with five or fewer points. Willingness to undergo required background checks. Must be over 18 years of age. Experience in assisting individuals with disabilities or special needs or a strong commitment to learn is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care and long‑term care practices is beneficial. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members. Attention to detail and ability to follow service plans accurately for each person. Competence in maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. A commitment to patience and empathy towards individuals receiving support.
