Senior Traffic Engineer

DescriptionGPI seeks a full-time Senior Traffic Engineer for our growing Albany Office. This position provides the flexibility to be involved in public and private development projects with diverse work from Traffic Studies and Signal Designs to Pedestrian Safety, Multi-modal Operations, and Roadway Lighting Design. The immediate role will require the candidate to prepare traffic studies and/or designs with minimal guidance and to collaborate effectively with other staff members to produce quality deliverables for our clients. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to transition into leading the office’s traffic group in the coming years. For more information, visit:What You’ll Be Doing:Performing technical traffic analyses and preparing technical studies.Leading challenging and varying projectsMentoring junior staffCommunicating with clients and local and state agencies and attending public hearingsManaging project scopes, schedules, and budgetsAssisting with writing contracts and reviewing invoicesEnsuring the technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various project plans, reports, and design documentsWhat You Need:BS in Civil Engineering or a related field8 + years of experience in traffic engineering with both private and public clientsExperience with project managementCommunication skills for public hearings and working with public agenciesA PE license is requiredPTOE Certification is a plusKnowledge of traffic analysis software applications (Synchro/SimTraffic and HCS)RequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final considerationRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team membersAble to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while workingGPI offers excellent benefits, including a 401(k) plan, ESOP, medical/dental/vision plans, paid time off, and more.
