Personal Trainer
Under the supervision of the Wellness Director, the Personal Trainer will be responsible for designing, collaborating and implementing exercise programs on an individual basis according to the needs and goals of the member.
Essential functions include warmly greeting members, consulting with members on health and fitness goals, designing exercise programs based on goals and fitness assessments, scheduling appointments, reporting equipment in need of repair, following proper paperwork procedures, maintaining sale goals, arriving for appointments well-groomed and in proper uniform, attending staff meetings, participating in Y mission events, following the YMCA of Greater Hartford training manual, following Wellness Floor or Pool expectations, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications include Personal Trainer Certification through a nationally accredited organization, certifications required within 30 days of hire, formal training in the specialty class being taught, customer service and verbal communication skills, ability to lead and motivate others, ability to work with all age groups and ability levels, ability to respond to safety and emergency situations, degree in health and science or related field, and minimum of 1-year experience in the health and fitness field.
Physical requirements include the ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time, lead sessions and classes, demonstrate exercise techniques, lift 50 pounds, and respond to critical situations and emergencies.
