Nurse Practitioner | Surgery - Trauma Location: Billings, MT Employer: Wellhart, LLC Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: 7/18/2026 About the Position Our client in Montana is seeking a dedicated Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 90-day assignment beginning Jul 18, 2026. This role involves 24-hour in-house coverage with 7a-7p and 7p-7a shifts, focusing on trauma patient resuscitation, assisting in the operating room, managing admitted trauma patients, and providing essential education to staff, residents, and patient families. You will play a crucial part in performance improvement initiatives and collaborate closely with surgeons and other specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care. Responsibilities and Duties Participate in the emergency department resuscitation of trauma patients. Serve as team lead or assist in the trauma bay for resuscitations. First assist trauma surgeons in the operating room as needed. Participate in performance improvement, morbidity and mortality reviews, research, outreach, and prevention efforts. Provide education to trauma fellows, APP students, and residents. Update families, discuss patient conditions, and develop comprehensive plans of care. Conduct and/or coordinate education to increase the knowledge of patients, patient families, and others, providing appropriate instruction to support the continuum of care. Train other staff in areas of clinical expertise and provide teaching to students to enhance clinical knowledge and ensure safe patient care. Stay abreast of current trends in healthcare practice and participate in continuing medical education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge and effective patient care skills. Manage admitted trauma patients, including daily rounds with surgeons, writing progress notes, monitoring diagnostics, and responding to calls/pages from nursing staff. Collaborate with other specialties to ensure integrated patient management. Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion, suturing, stapling, and laceration repair as needed.
