Got a natural knack for fixing things? Ready to roll up your sleeves, pick up a wrench, and get to work? We’re looking for a driven, reliable Mechanic Helper to join our fast-paced shop team in Weyers Cave, VA! This isn’t just a job where you hand over tools—it’s a hands-on mentorship. Working side-by-side with our experienced Lead Mechanics, you’ll dig into real repairs, troubleshoot complex equipment, and gain the exact skills needed to build a long-term, high-paying career in shop maintenance.
What You’ll Do
- Master the Craft: Work alongside Lead Mechanics on diagnostics, engine work, hydraulics, electrical setups, suspension, and brake systems.
- Tackle Core Maintenance: Take charge of fluid and filter changes, greasing rigs, swapping belts/hoses, and installing batteries.
- Keep the Shop Engine Running: Prep tools and parts for major jobs to keep work flowing, and maintain clean, organized, safety-first bays.
- Inspect & Protect: Identify worn parts before they fail, practice safe tool operation, and handle shop materials properly.
What We’re Looking For
- Drive & Curiosity: Previous shop experience is great, but a strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn matter most to us.
- Practical Skills: Comfortable operating standard hand/power tools and possess basic mechanical logic.
- Solid Mindset: Safety-focused, dependable, receptive to coaching, and strong at teamwork.
- Basic Requirements: Valid driver’s license preferred; reliable daily transportation to the shop.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Physical durability: Able to bend, kneel, stand, and work in tight spaces throughout the shift.
- Strength: Able to regularly lift, push, and carry parts or tools weighing 25+ lbs.
- Grit: Comfortable working in active shop environments and outdoors in various weather conditions (dirt, noise, and oil included!).
