Engineering Standards Manager - Altavista, VA

Abbott seeks an Engineering Standards Manager for their Altavista, VA nutrition manufacturing facility. The role focuses on establishing engineering standards, asset management practices, and capital planning frameworks to support safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Support development of site long-range capital plan including asset condition assessment and lifecycle strategies
• Establish and improve engineering standards, specifications, and governance processes for technical consistency and compliance
• Provide capital portfolio governance partnering with finance and leadership on scope, cost, schedule, and risk
• Oversee engineering validation and compliance practices aligned with quality systems and regulatory requirements
• Lead engineering staff development through coaching, performance management, and talent development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, or related discipline)
• Minimum 5 years progressive experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
• Engineering leadership, asset management, capital planning, or operational excellence experience in regulated industries
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, utilities, infrastructure, and process equipment
• Experience with capital portfolio governance, lifecycle planning, and risk-based investment decisions
• Familiarity with regulated quality and validation environments
• Master's degree in engineering or MBA preferred

Compensation: $99,300-$198,700 base
