New Graduate Registered Nurse

Purpose and Scope This position is for graduates of an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months, working in a state that does not allow graduates to perform nursing duties until licensed. The employee will function as part of the hemodialysis health‑care team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while working toward obtaining their nursing license. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Perform vascular access evaluation, pre‑treatment, and post‑dialysis evaluation, including weight and vital signs. Conduct vascular access cannulation, reporting any difficulties or unusual findings to the nurse supervisor. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD). Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or directed by the supervisor. Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy and record all relevant data in the patient health record. Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform all tasks necessary for treatment discontinuation, documenting appropriately. Assist with venous access termination, including blood pressure measurement, hemostasis, and dressing application. Prepare and organize supplies and equipment to prevent waste and ensure treatment readiness. Input all treatment data into the designated clinical application accurately and on time. Review health‑care records for completeness and correct any omitted entries. Prepare lab requisitions and collect, label and store lab samples according to laboratory specifications. Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics by cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surrounding areas between treatments. Report significant information or changes in patient condition directly to the nurse supervisor. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing; must bend over, push or pull equipment exerting up to 15 pounds of force. Lift and lower solutions up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally, up to 5 feet high. Use a desk and personal computer; interact with patients, facility staff and physicians. Require periodic travel between assigned facilities and community locations, including regional and corporate meetings. Undergo the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; accommodations may be considered if the test is failed. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. Supervision None. Education and Required Credentials Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months. Required to obtain a nursing license within 90 days of employment. Experience and Required Skills None specified; however, the candidate must be able to handle demanding situations, multitask, and remain flexible to changing needs, maintain punctual attendance, and perform other related duties as assigned. Rate of Pay Hourly Rate: $29 – $48, depending on location and qualifications.
