Compensation

$150,000 – $250,000 Base + Competitive Equity

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll work directly with major US retail customers while remaining deeply involved in engineering, AI, data, and product development.

This is an opportunity to combine software engineering, data engineering, customer-facing technical work, and AI-driven product development while owning customer outcomes end-to-end.

What You'll Do

• Write production code daily to build and deploy customer-specific integrations and solutions
• Build production-grade data pipelines supporting large enterprise retail customers
• Develop AI-driven solutions that solve customer-specific operational and planning problems
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for multiple enterprise retail customers
• Work directly with stakeholders ranging from VP-level executives to store and operations teams
• Gather customer requirements and translate business problems into technical solutions
• Workshop solutions directly with customers before implementing them into production
• Build prototypes and rapidly validate solutions with customers
• Build customer-specific integrations with ERP systems and other enterprise platforms
• Own customer solution performance, KPIs, and service-level outcomes
• Monitor and improve production systems operating in live customer environments
• Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure reliable customer deployments
• Own multiple customer accounts and technical workstreams simultaneously
• Collaborate closely with engineering, AI, data, design, and product teams
• Translate customer feedback into product improvements and technical requirements
• Build reusable solutions from patterns discovered across customer deployments
• Work with cloud infrastructure and modern data platforms
• Develop software using Go, TypeScript, Python, SQL, and related technologies
• Build frontend or product interfaces when required to support customer workflows
• Use modern AI tools and AI-assisted development workflows in daily engineering work
• Work with customers to understand operational processes and identify opportunities for automation
• Balance customer-specific requirements with scalable product architecture
• Maintain high engineering quality while operating in fast-moving customer environments
• Travel approximately 30% domestically to customer sites across the United States
• Operate as a bridge between customers and internal engineering and product organizations

Experience Requirements

• 3–8 years of professional experience in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or similar technical roles
• 3+ years of experience building production software or data infrastructure
• Proven experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders
• Strong client-facing engineering background
• Experience owning technical solutions from requirements through production deployment
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines
• Experience working with enterprise customers preferred
• Experience working with complex business or operational workflows
• Experience operating in fast-moving or startup-like environments
• Strong product mindset and understanding of software quality standards
