Quality Assurance Specialist

Viken Detection is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to help us develop world-class security engineering products.

Viken Detection provides enabling security imaging and material identification solutions that help law enforcement and safety inspection professionals keep the public safe from drug trafficking, terrorism, and environmental hazardous threats. Viken Detection is headquartered just west of Boston in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Inspect incoming materials, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and engineering specifications.
• Perform dimensional inspections, measurements, and functional testing using standard inspection equipment and tools.
• Review and interpret manufacturing work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedures.
• Document inspection results, test data, and quality findings accurately and completely.
• Identify non-conforming materials and products and support containment activities.
• Assist with root cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Monitor manufacturing processes and product quality to ensure compliance with established standards.
• Support internal and external quality audits and maintain quality records as required.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Operations teams to resolve quality-related issues.
• Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Communicate quality concerns, inspection findings, and trends in a timely manner.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Travel between Burlington, Haverhill, and Ayer facilities as required.

Required:

• High School Diploma, Technical School Certificate, Associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing inspection, or a related environment.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience using measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Experience identifying and documenting non-conformances.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred:

• Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Experience supporting quality systems in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
• Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies or complex system manufacturing.
• Experience supporting audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of parts and assemblies.
• Manual dexterity required for handling components, measuring devices, and inspection equipment.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and move throughout production areas.

Location: This role is based in Burlington, MA. We are seeking local candidates, as relocation assistance is not available.
