Job Title: RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years L&D RN experience, 1 year OB Surg Tech experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and L&D skills for Level 1 Trauma Client, IV insertion and care, central line management, care coordination with interdisciplinary team Description: Seeking an RN for Labor & Delivery/Postpartum. The facility has a total of 637 licensed beds. It is a Level 1 Trauma Designation teaching hospital. It offers specialized centers, including Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. The unit consists of 9 labor beds, 3 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage beds, and 27 postpartum beds. Patient census ranges from 2-14 in Labor and Delivery. Patient types include laboring patients and antepartum patients. The RN-to-patient ratio will follow established guidelines. There are 2-3 OB Technicians per shift assisting RNs. Required skills include strong clinical assessment and L&D expertise. The RN must be proficient in IV insertion and care, and central line management. The RN will coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team. Surg Tech responsibilities include scrubbing for surgeries and assisting with C-sections. Surg Techs will set up tables for vaginal deliveries and stock the unit. Duties include assisting with vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulation, and patient transport. The unit operates with support from OB surgical techs and CNAs. A designated transport team is available for patient transport. Nights and weekends are part of the schedule, with some holiday shifts required. The unit promotes a busy but collaborative team environment.
