Engineering Director

The client seeks an Engineering Director to direct and oversee engineering activities across project operations, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion, including engineering design and commissioning efforts. This role provides functional authority to ensure projects are delivered with effective coordination and completion practices while supporting alignment between engineering execution and client requirements. Key responsibilities include leading and overseeing engineering projects, including design and commissioning, and ensuring delivery against project schedules. The Engineering Director will manage and coordinate a team of project managers, engineers, technical staff, commissioning agents, and technicians, delegating work based on expertise and project needs, reviewing designs and process specifications for accuracy and regulatory compliance, and approving engineering documentation, standards, and process procedures. The role also involves coordinating with project stakeholders to optimize resource utilization and execution, maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors, and identifying new business opportunities through successful project delivery. The Engineering Director will guide design and commissioning teams to meet timelines and quality standards, conduct job site meetings and inspections, and verify progress and safety protocols. Travel is expected at approximately 30% of the time to job sites and office locations, including under-construction sites. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or acceptable alternatives such as Engineering Technology or Construction Management) from an accredited four-year program, strong verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented multitasking and adaptability, proficiency with common productivity and project tools, and an appropriate professional engineering license; the role is expected to require substantial project management experience and the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
