IBM Cognos Architect / Data Engineering LeadWe are seeking an experienced IBM Cognos Architect with strong Data Engineering expertise to design, develop, and optimize enterprise data and reporting solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Cognos Framework Manager, IBM DataStage, and PL/SQL, along with exposure to modern data platforms such as Databricks and Apache Spark. The ideal candidate will play a key role in data architecture, ETL design, reporting strategy, and modernization initiatives, especially in a BFSI environment.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & DesignLead the design and implementation of enterprise BI and data warehousing solutions using IBM Cognos and DataStageDevelop scalable data models and frameworks using Cognos Framework Manager (FM)Define data architecture standards, governance, and best practicesCollaborate with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into technical solutionsCognos Development & ReportingArchitect and build complex reports, dashboards, and packages in IBM Cognos AnalyticsOptimize query performance and reporting frameworks for large-scale datasetsEnsure data accuracy, consistency, and performance of reporting layersData Engineering (ETL & Database)Design and develop ETL pipelines using IBM DataStageWrite and optimize PL/SQL procedures, functions, and queries for data processingEnsure high-quality data integration across multiple upstream/downstream systemsModern Data Platform IntegrationContribute to data modernization initiatives leveraging: Databricks, Apache Spark (Scala/PySpark)Integrate traditional BI systems with cloud-based or big data platformsEnable hybrid data solutions (on-prem + cloud)Performance & OptimizationIdentify and resolve bottlenecks in ETL and reporting processesImplement performance tuning strategies across Cognos, DataStage, and databasesDrive automation and efficiency improvements in data pipelinesStakeholder Management & LeadershipEngage with business, data, and technology teams for requirement gathering and solution alignmentProvide technical leadership and mentoring to development teamsParticipate in solution design discussions, architecture reviews, and governance forumsRequired Skills & ExperiencePrimary SkillsStrong hands-on experience with: IBM Cognos Analytics & Framework Manager (FM), IBM DataStage (ETL development & optimization), PL/SQL (advanced level)Proven experience in data warehousing and BI architectureStrong understanding of dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas)Secondary / Good-to-Have SkillsExperience with Databricks platformHands-on development using: Apache Spark (Scala or PySpark)Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is a plusDomain ExperiencePreferably experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Asset Management (BFSI)Familiarity with financial data domains, regulatory reporting, or risk systems is an advantageSoft SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environmentNice to HaveExperience in data modernization or legacy BI transformation programsKnowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworksExposure to Agile delivery methodologiesDifferentiators for Ideal CandidateAbility to bridge traditional BI (Cognos/DataStage) with modern data platforms (Databricks/Spark)Experience in enterprise-scale data ecosystemsStrong architecture mindset with hands-on capabilityCompany Benefits & CultureInclusive and diverse work environmentOpportunities for professional growth and developmentComprehensive health and wellness benefits
