Job Title: 21st Century-ACE Center Assistant Activity Coordinator Department: Program/Operations Location: Communities in Schools of Southeast Harris County and Brazoria County Reports To: 21st Century-ACE Center Site Coordinator Status: Exempt Last Updated: November 2025 Summary Under general supervision, assists and facilitates the development and implementation of academic, enrichment, and recreational curricula for the after‑school academic preparation program. Assists the site coordinator and activity coordinator to implement and coordinate the daily activities and monitor individual and/or groups of students participating in a variety of after‑school activities. Essential Responsibilities Participates in professional development provided by Communities In Schools or the campus. Professional development may include classroom management, student behavior management, lesson delivery, recognition and reporting of child abuse, and CPR/first aid. Along with the activity coordinator, implements developmentally appropriate individual and/or group activities and learning opportunities according to individual needs and learning styles. Schedules, organizes, and facilitates the delivery of curriculum and other program activities; monitors student progress. Engages students in activities by building high‑quality relationships through caring interactions and by showing interest in each student’s hobbies, school experiences, and family. The assistant activity coordinator will teach with passion for their subject and for the students, while maintaining a positive attitude in all circumstances. Provide individual and/or group direction, guidance, and supervision of students in the performance of academic, enrichment, recreational, and other program activities. Prepares instructional, developmental, and recreational materials, facilities, and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards; instructs, guides, and/or supervises students in the proper and safe use of facilities and equipment. Supervises snacks for students participating in programs. Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of center facilities and equipment. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned. Education, Skills, Experience Prefer individuals with experience in education, childcare, or directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to plan, develop, and implement development activities and programs for children. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to lead, instruct, interact with, and supervise children of various ages. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children. Knowledge of the application, safe usage, and maintenance requirements of relevant facilities and equipment. Ability to manage and provide for the health, nutrition, and hygiene requirements of young children, and/or adolescents. Must be 17 years of age or older and at least a Junior in high school. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. A strong commitment to the mission of CIS and willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of Communities In Schools (CIS). Mature judgment to take initiative where appropriate, to recognize and handle confidential matters in a professional manner. Ability to work with minimum supervision; must be flexible, a self‑starter, and a team player. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
