Early Intervention Specialist (Columbia/Maury County) MAJOR FUNCTIONS: In conjunction with the Early Learning department, and in alignment with the agency mission, team goals, and objectives, the person in this position is responsible for fulfilling Compliance Assurances as stated in the TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention Services) grant contract and complying with all agency policies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide developmental therapy and ongoing developmental assessments to Part C eligible children and families in accordance with the child’s Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) through parent/caregiver education, modeling, and supports, following FGRBI (Family Guided Routines Based Interview); these services may include direct intervention, consultation, and assisting in the transition to early childhood programs and may be delivered in a variety of settings, dependent upon the determination of the IFSP team. Manage a caseload of 16-20 Full Time Equivalency children to ensure the successful, consistent delivery of services as specified by the child’s IFSP for a full-time 40-hour-a-week position. Maintain children’s records in accordance with all laws, regulations, and agency guidelines. Make timely service log and contact log entries in Tennessee’s Early Intervention Database System (TEIDS) in accordance with current state and agency guidelines. Provide timely six-month and annual developmental assessment information using a variety of tools provided by the State. Maintain timely and professional regular consistent verbal and written communication with parents, caregivers, and other professionals, including the IFSP team. Acquire and demonstrate an ongoing functional knowledge of each child’s diagnosis, medications, best practice intervention techniques, and adaptive equipment. Participate in marketing/promoting the services of the Early Learning Program to residents, professionals, and childcare personnel in Williamson County and the surrounding area. Develop and maintain relationships with other service programs, therapists, school systems, funding agencies, and professional organizations. Participate in community awareness, education, and child-find activities, as needed. Participate in agency-wide meetings, staff meetings, and parent meetings, as needed. Participate in internal and external in-service training, maintaining a minimum of 30 in-service hours per fiscal year, including Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certifications and other required training as stated by TEIS. Ensure that the Early Learning Program equipment is maintained in a safe, clean, and functional condition. Maintain personal vehicle insurance, reliable transportation, and a valid Tennessee driver’s license. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Degree Requirements: must hold a baccalaureate and/or masters and/or doctorate degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or related field. Related fields can include, but are not limited to, degrees in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology. Related field degrees require a minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, and internet use required. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently.
