Job Information Title: IT EMS Analyst, Progression Company: Tampa Electric Company Location: Energy Control Center, Tampa, FL Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days Hiring Manager: Kenneth Habgood Recruiter: Mark Koener Position Concept A Systems Analyst develops applications; implements software packages, integrates applications, and provides 24x7 application support. Collaborates on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) with a focus on the application design, development, and implementation phases. Utilizes appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with the IT architecture. Focus Area This position will support TECO’s energy control center mainly by managing GE’s E-terra EMS (Energy Management System). This real-time system helps TECO monitor the transmission and generation assets that make up the Bulk Electric System for Tampa. The job will involve administering and supporting the system for operators in the control center. The position will also handle data from the EMS to external departments, which will require some programming and database interactions. Additionally, smaller ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) applications will be supported as needed. Working Conditions Most work is performed in an office environment, but occasional travel to operating locations is required. Level 1 – Associate Systems Analyst The Associate Systems Analyst develops software of limited complexity. Provides primary support for one or more applications. Participates on Application Development and Support teams. Works under direct supervision. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Develop software of limited complexity based on specifications provided. Implement software packages for which limited configuration and integration is required with minimal vendor contact. Integrates applications where the complexity of interfaces is limited and based on specifications provided. Provides 24x7 primary support for one or more applications typically classified as ‘niche’ or ‘core’, but not ‘mission‑critical’. May provide secondary support for mission‑critical applications. Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by assisting with documentation and estimates. Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables under the guidance of more senior staff. Participates in an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of the manager, senior team members, or project managers. Acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments. Acquires and maintains appropriate technical skills. Qualifications – Level 1 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional years related experience may be considered. Licenses / Certifications: Preferred: Certifications in specific job‑related disciplines are preferred. Related Experience: Minimum one year of experience in systems analysis, design, and development. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a minimum high school diploma and 4+ additional years related experience may be considered. KSA: Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies; stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies. Level 2 – Systems Analyst The Systems Analyst develops software of moderate complexity based on specifications provided. Provides primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications. Participates on Application Development and Support teams. May serve as Technical Lead on small projects. Works under moderate supervision and may oversee contract resources and/or junior staff. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Develops software of moderate complexity based on specifications provided. Implements software packages for which moderate configuration and integration is required; interaction with vendor resources remotely or onsite may be required. Integrates applications with moderately complex interfaces based on specifications provided. Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission‑critical. Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates with review by more senior staff. Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables with review by more senior staff. Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission‑critical.
