Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.. Position SummaryThis position is represented by the Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.This is a senior-level engineer responsible for implementing programs required to modernize the electric grid allowing for safe, resilient and efficient operations. This position will include participating in a cross functional team of internal and consulting participants being tasked with leading the transition of a project from development and testing to being operational for each phase of each project.This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.The salary range is:CA Minimum, $153,828CA Maximum, $197,628Job ResponsibilitiesBasecase preparationLead and manage approval process for PG&E’s transmission load forecast.Lead generator testing and model developmentDevelop HVDC or other non-standard equipment models for power flow and dynamic stability analysis.Transmission System StudiesPrimary lead in transmission planning studies including long-term studies that develop strategy and comprehensive plan to ensure safe, reliable, economic and efficient operation of the electric transmission system.Lead and support development of Annual Transmission Planning Assessment and Expansion Plan.Provide technical guidance to internal departments (Engineering, Operations, Substation and T-line asset strategy, Distribution Planning etc.) on planning and policy issuesLead complex studies such as RAS design related studies.Develop and standardize new analytic methods for power system analysis/modelingLead the development of interconnection handbook, criteria, and standards for WECC/NERC complianceGuide and direct the work of lower level engineers on interconnection studies, where appropriate.Project ImplementationProvide technical expertise and lead in the implementation of complex and large-scale projects including projects that require a Permit to Construct (PTC) permit.Implement complex projects requiring CPCN permit with guidance.Compliance and RegulatoryLead in preparation of need portion of filings with regulatory agencies on transmission projects as necessary.Lead FERC/NERC/WECC/CAISO compliance requirements such as F1004 forms, RIMS, FNM, and FAC, TPL, NUC, and MOD reliability standards and criterion.Lead annual Gap Analysis for FERC/NERC compliance.Participate in short and long-term strategy and capital investment planning activities.QualificationsMinimum:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US8 years of experience in electric transmission planning studiesDesired:Advanced knowledge in power system theoryKnowledge of PG&E’s transmission systemKnowledge of NERC/WECC standardsExperience in electric system operationsProgramming skills in Matlab, Python, VBA, EPCLA California PE licenseMaster’s degree in electrical engineering
