HVAC Mechanical Service Apprentice Technician

Overview Johnson Controls Inc is looking for forward‑thinking talent to join our growing organization. Responsibilities Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items on client sites. Apprentices will be trained and perform HVAC mechanical equipment and controls, participating in certified training through the Service Technical Academy. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs under coaching and mentorship. Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year. Qualifications Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO. 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts ethically and professionally. Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site. Self‑starter with ability to eventually work independently. Prioritizes safety in all forms. Valid driver’s license. Preferred: 1–2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis. Compensation & Benefits This is a bargaining unit position with an hourly rate of $21.43 determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through the local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. Successful performance may lead to a recommendation for the Union Local apprenticeship program and continued employment at JCI. Acceptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or the position may be terminated.
