• Position: Locum Tenens Physician Assistant – Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Location: Hartford, Connecticut 06105
• Setting: Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery and surgical care
• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
• Duration: Approximately 13 weeks, with potential for extension
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Shift Pattern: Monday through Friday, with potential call and 24-hour shifts
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,130 - $5,500
• Patient Population: Adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• EMR: Epic preferred experience
• Work Environment: High-acuity, team-based surgical practice

Physician Assistant Job Requirements

• Current Connecticut Physician Assistant license in hand at time of submission
• Board certified by NCCPA
• Minimum of 1 year of Physician Assistant experience required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• Ability to perform all required duties and procedures in a cardiothoracic surgery setting
• Comfortable working independently in an inpatient environment
• Must be able to cover both sites as needed
• Must be a local candidate
• No new graduates

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative physical exams and patient assessments
• Diagnose and treat illnesses in the inpatient setting
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Assist in surgery and provide perioperative support
• Write prescriptions and coordinate care plans
• Complete rounding and ongoing patient management
• Place central venous and dialysis catheters
• Place arterial lines and assist with advanced cardiovascular procedures
• Perform endoscopic retrieval procedures
• Work collaboratively to provide safe, efficient, high-quality patient care
