Certifications: CCC-SLP, BLS

Must-Have: Flu vaccine required; no exemptions will be made for travelers. Experience in an acute care setting is required. Ability to work with a diverse patient age group, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Description: The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide care in an acute care setting. The average daily census is 70 patients. The staffing ratio is 1:1. Support services include interpretation services, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, phlebotomy, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses will vary. The role requires strong skills in assessment and intervention related to communication and swallowing disorders. Experience with conducting fiberoptic endoscopic evaluations of swallow (FEES), modified barium swallow studies, and various therapeutic techniques is essential. Candidates must possess skills in patient and family education, as well as reassessments. The ability to interpret diagnostic results and modify diet orders as needed is required. The role includes working with patients with conditions such as CVA, degenerative diseases, dysarthria, dysphagia, TBI, and voice disorders. Experience with augmentative communication strategies and non-evaluative screening tools is preferred. Candidates should be proficient in using specialized equipment and techniques related to speech-language pathology practice. Travelers with first-time experience in the unit will be considered as long as they have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
