CAD Designer

CAD Designer SUMMARY The Designer/Draftsman is responsible for the supervision of projects relating to design, drafting and storage of drawings and files, and must comply with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for design and development of tools, fixtures, gauges and production floor plans, and developing the machine shop drawings for tooling, fixture and gauge manufacture. Responsible adherence to the policies, procedures and instructions of the TS16949 quality system. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in design and drafting techniques. Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks a plus. Basic mechanical knowledge: Press fits/slip fits Bearings Keys/Keyways Threads O-ring design and o-ring groove design Basic industrial materials: common steel grades, common aluminum grades. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to communicate effectively with oral and written communication including telephone conversation. COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to operate PC computer, using word processing, and email software applications. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be willing to work in a team environment and consider all perspectives.
