Job Description Speech-Language Pathologist Center for Student Success Team Member Full or Part-Time St. Paul Christian Academy in Nashville seeks an innovative and collaborative educator to join the faculty. A master’s degree is required, and experience working with elementary-level children is preferred. This person will join a team of therapists in the Center for Student Success to provide individual speech-language therapy to St. Paul students. The Center for Student Success (CSS) is a team of learning specialists and therapists who work with approximately 70% of our student population. The Center’s learning specialists lead structured literacy and math instruction and faculty training in kindergarten - 2nd grade. They are a strong, multi-disciplinary team that provides multisensory instruction and support for students in both large and small group settings. The Center therapists collaborate with the CSS team and classroom teachers as they carry out a therapeutic plan for students in an individualized setting. Reports To Center for Student Success Director Upper School/Lower School Division Heads Job Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides services to elementary school students (typically grades K-5) with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders. The SLP evaluates students, develops individualized treatment plans, provides direct therapy, collaborates with educators and families, and supports students’ communication skills to enhance academic and social success. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations. Interpret assessment data to determine eligibility for speech and language services. Assist in developing and implementing Student Success Plans Provide direct speech and language therapy services individually or in groups. Monitor and document student progress. Consult and collaborate with teachers, Center for Student Success team, administrators, and other school staff. Provide strategies to support classroom instruction and student participation. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and home carryover activities. Maintain accurate and timely records, including therapy logs and progress notes Provide professional development and training for staff on speech and language topics. Assist in developing materials or resources to support communication skills in the classroom. Participate in school meetings, professional development, and continuing education as required. Additional duties include, but are not limited to Screen students as part of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) or Response to Intervention (RTI) Provide short-term interventions for students not yet identified for participation in the CSS Collaborate with intervention teams to problem-solve student needs Provide training for teachers and staff on topics specific to supporting speech and language development in the classroom Participate in curriculum planning discussions, especially for language-heavy subjects. Meet with parents to discuss home strategies and resources Attend parent teacher conferences as part of the student’s teaching team when deemed necessary by the CSS and classroom teacher Provide parent workshops on speech and language development Collaborate on classroom accommodations and modifications Assist teachers in creating visuals or supports for students with communication needs Participate in school events Qualifications Master’s Degree in Speech -Language Pathology Valid state license Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills About St. Paul Christian Academy At St. Paul, the school walks with parents to establish a permanent foundation for our students to flourish by pursuing academic excellence, a passion for Christ, and an ever-deepening understanding of their call to be leaders who uniquely shape the world in which they live.
