Position SummaryAs an AI/ML Engineer within People Technology, you will design, develop, and deploy intelligent AI-powered solutions and machine learning workflows that transform workforce capabilities and employee experiences across the enterprise. Working closely with cross-functional software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, you will build and integrate scalable machine learning models and modern AI tools to solve complex HR and talent analytics challenges. If you are eager to evaluate emerging technologies, build reliable AI solutions, and drive continuous technological innovation in a remote-friendly environment, we encourage you to apply.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges, with an emphasis on the responsible use of AIUse enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement across People Technology platformsEvaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovationBuild, train, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models and data pipelines supporting workforce and enterprise applicationsCollaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and business partners to integrate machine learning capabilities into production systemsImplement automated testing, CI/CD, and MLOps practices to ensure model reliability, scalability, and securityEnsure data governance, privacy, security, and quality standards are maintained across all AI/ML models and architecturesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, machine learning, or data science2+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying AI-powered or machine learning solutions in production environments2+ years of programming experience with Python and data libraries, such as NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn2+ years of experience working with enterprise databases and SQL for data engineering and pipeline development1+ years of experience utilizing cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, for machine learning development and deploymentPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative fieldExperience building AI/ML solutions supporting People Technology, Human Resources, or workforce analytics applicationsExperience with deep learning frameworks, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and natural language processing (NLP)Experience with MLOps frameworks, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and workflow orchestrators such as Airflow or MLflowKnowledge of responsible AI frameworks, model governance, and ethical AI deployment practices*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $98,500 to $176,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
