About the Role

A growing electronics manufacturer in West Michigan is seeking an experienced Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimization, and sustainment of advanced manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies . This is a hands-on engineering role focused on SMT, PCB assembly, and process improvement within a Tier 1 automotive-style environment .

The ideal candidate has a strong background in electronics process engineering , enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and sustain SMT and PCB assembly processes for high-reliability electronic products.
• Participate in DFM/DFA reviews to improve product manufacturability and reduce costs.
• Create and maintain process documentation , including work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs.
• Support equipment installation, validation, and troubleshooting for SMT lines, reflow ovens, AOI, ICT, and conformal coating systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve process and equipment issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, operations, and quality teams to ensure smooth product launches and process alignment.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and process feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 , IPC-A-610 , APQP , and PPAP requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance first-pass yield, reduce waste, and increase throughput.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing engineering , preferably in automotive, aerospace, or other regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of SMT equipment, PCB technologies, and process troubleshooting .
• Experience with ICT, AOI, and functional test integration .
• Proficiency in CAD , ERP/MES , and statistical analysis tools .
• Understanding of quality documentation and process validation methods .

Preferred:

• Certification in IPC-A-610 , Six Sigma , or Lean Manufacturing .
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / smart factory concepts and digital manufacturing tools.
• Experience with energy-efficient or sustainable manufacturing practices .
