Work Shift: Night (United States of America)

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
• Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose.
• Practices using current clinical practice standards.
• Upholds all health care system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies.
• Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence based practice.
• Provides patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse.
• Supports evidence-based practice and ethical accountability.
• Supports initiatives of the health care team.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintains confidentiality in provision of patient care.
• Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates and supports performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders, research and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care.
• Provides safe environment for provision of patient care.
• Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, population specific education.
• Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other surgical technologists/LDR technologists.
• Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum with the assistance of the Registered Nurse.
• Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
• Prepares operative suite and surgical field as required.
• Maintains sterility of operative field.
• Prepares vaginal delivery tables as required.

Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited/approved program in surgical technology.

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor

Additional License(s) and Certification(s): National certification in surgical technology preferred. However, 10 years or more experience in a comparable setting is acceptable.

Required Minimum Experience: Less than 1 year acute care surgical technology experience and direct patient care experience.

Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care. Ability to delegate to other team members as required. Ability to multi-task essential. Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential. Strong detail orientation required. Knowledge of surgical procedures required. Computer skills may be required.
