Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Austin (5245 W US Hwy 290 Service Rd, Austin, TX 78735) Job Title: Cath Lab RN Status: Full Time Shift: Day Shift, 40 hours/week Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm Start Date Range: September 2026 Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Austin is entering an exciting period of growth as we expand key service lines to better serve the Greater Austin community. This includes the development of a new cardiac catheterization (cath) lab, expanded imaging services, and a new breast imaging and mammography center, along with enhancements across the campus. To support this growth, we are hiring ahead of phased openings to build and prepare our teams in advance. Start dates will vary by role and specialty as departments come online throughout 2026. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Austin is a full-service acute care hospital located in the Oak Hill area of southwest Austin, just off US-290 near MoPac Expressway. The campus combines inpatient services, outpatient clinics, imaging, surgery, and physician offices, making it a convenient location for patients who want multiple services in one place. It operates a 24/7 emergency department and is certified as a Primary Stroke Center, allowing it to provide rapid evaluation and treatment for stroke patients. Baylor Scott & White - Austin also features a 24-bed Main Nursing Unit which is a mixed‑acuity unit with three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach in providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. Job Summary The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional. The RN uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses. The RN develops and implements an individualized care plan and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs. The RN helps patients transition through healthcare without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act. Delegation also considers each patient's condition and the employee's competencies. Essential Functions Of The Role Clinical Judgment: Using clinical reasoning, conducts accurate assessments according to standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing care plan. Modifies the plan to meet outcomes. Clinical Inquiry: Evaluates nursing practice quality and effectiveness, including nursing indicators. Supports evidence‑based practice changes through research and learning. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Caring Practices: Creates an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff. Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families and maintains appropriate boundaries. Manages emotional and physical pain to promote relief and healing and prevent unnecessary suffering. Recognizes and appreciates a patient's and family's unique differences. Incorporates culture, beliefs, gender, race, ethnicity, lifestyle, status, age, and values into a care plan. Know laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying bodies; hospital and department standards, protocols, policies, and procedures for nursing care in the assigned area. Knowledge of medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention and management. Understanding of medications, common dosages, effects, and possible adverse reactions. Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing. Observe changes in patients' medical conditions and communicate them to nursing staff and physicians. Provide age‑specific, quality, patient‑centered care through the nursing process. General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or two years of work experience above the minimum qualification. Mandatory Experience: Two years of experience as a Cath Lab RN preferred; at least one year required. Certification / License / Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Nurse (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 30 days of hire. Must provide documentation of ACLS within 30 days of hire.
