Starting Pay: $20.95 – $21.37 per hour (depending on training and experience). Plus: $1.00 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This position requires professionalism, dependability, and a commitment to serving the public. Key Responsibilities Safely operate transit buses and vans along assigned routes and schedules in all weather conditions. Provide excellent customer service and assist passengers as needed. Collect fares, handle and balance cash, and prepare required reports. Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned vehicle. Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and City safety policies. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of related driving or transportation experience. Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement and no airbrake restriction. Current DOT medical certification. Preferred Previous public transit or passenger transportation experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of local traffic laws, safe driving practices, and assigned routes. Ability to manage stressful or challenging customer interactions with professionalism. Skill in operating fleet vehicles and related equipment. Ability to count money, make change, and complete basic written reports. Commitment to safety and maintaining a constant state of alertness. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work performed in vehicles and outdoor environments with exposure to traffic, weather, and noise. Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds; frequent movement and vehicle operation required. May encounter hostile or irate individuals and must remain calm and professional.
