Youth Engagement Specialist

The Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) provides direct, individualized support to youth in residential and drop-in programs. This role supports young people who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, or other significant challenges. Using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, the YES helps create a safe, welcoming environment and supports youth through daily activities and moments of crisis. Key Responsibilities Supervise and engage youth in daily activities while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment Supporting youth using Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and Positive Youth Development practices Assist with individualized success plans and daily goal setting Facilitate groups, activities, and peer support meetings Assist youth with basic needs (meals, laundry, showers, lockers) Serve meals and prepare/distribute lunch bags as needed Conduct safety procedures including bag checks, and room searches Escorting youth to appointments and off-site activities Document interactions, incidents, and services in systems such as ETO Maintain confidentiality and follow all mandated reporting and safety guidelines Participate in trainings, meetings, and onboarding of new staff Schedule Shift: 7:00 AM – 3PM, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM Schedule Options: Friday–Tuesday or Thursday–Monday Some weekends and holidays required (distributed equitably) Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant experience Strong communication, crisis intervention, and teamwork skills Cultural competency and ability to support diverse youth, including LGBTQIA+ youth Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid and administer Narcan Ability to pass background and MVR checks Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform light physical work Basic Microsoft Office skills; willingness to learn ETO #J-18808-Ljbffr Quality Placement Authority
