Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $19.44 - $23.59 A Delivery Assistant is responsible for assisting the Delivery Driver in the movement of product from the main warehouse to the delivery site while acting in a safe and professional manner. The ideal Delivery Assistant is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service. Depending on the location, the Delivery Assistant reports directly to the General Manager, Production Manager, or Shop Foreman and interacts daily with customers, drivers, dispatchers, receivers, and load-builders.**Duties and Responsibilities*** Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle* Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads* Complete mileage and fuel usage reports* Demonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveries* Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery* Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors* Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during course of work* Finds productive work to do in down time* Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean* Comes to work professionally attired* Checks load for accuracy* Perform other related duties as assignedJob Knowledge* Completes required new hire training* Seeks to learn products and their application for the end users* Learns and follows established best practices* Learns from mistakes and accepts coaching as opportunities* Demonstrates legal and thorough knowledge of tie down rules and regs* Understands weight, height, and length limits* Continues to participate in training as available* Learning best practices related to efficient loading, strapping, and drivingTeamwork* Always arrives on time and prepared to work* Consistently finishes all work before leaving each day* Adheres to company policy* Adaptable to change* Accepts experienced team member’s advice and feedback* Good attitude towards necessary tasks* Remains solution focused* Takes ownership of mistakes* Assists other team members with work when appropriate* Promotes positive environment by having cheerful attitude and speaking well of others* Mentors new teammates when possible* Regularly takes initiative or volunteers to solve issuesCommunication* Writes legibly on all materials* Open and accepts feedback well* Uses cell phone proactively and is not afraid to ask questions* Provides feedback related to customers, jobsites, issues, etc* Seeks to learn customer names and establish good relationships* Consistently participates in team meetings and discussions* Consistently read and follows instructions on deliveries* Establishes good relationships with sales team and seeks to be their “eyes and ears” in the fieldSafety* Use proper lifting techniques, including buddy lifting when necessary* Always wears high visibility/proper uniform* Safety gear is always utilized (seatbelt, eye protection, ear etc.)* Keeps truck clean daily* Always demonstrates consistency in following safety protocols* Demonstrates care, has minimal product damage* Proactively and consistently brings safety issues to attention of manager and team* Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with safety* Participates on safety committee as able* Teaches and coaches teammates to learn from other’s mistakes**Qualifications*** High school diploma or GED equivalent* Open and transparent communication* Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications* Able to read a tape measure* Knowledge of building materials* Ability to speak, write, and read English *required** Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, made of leather or composite material, and have ankle support *required*Interpersonal Skills* Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment for both internal and external customers* Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold* Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers* Ability to function independently, as part of a team, and as a leader within your own cohort with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence* Ability to think and respond quickly, positively, and professionally to constantly changing circumstances* Ability to appropriately manage stress and interact with others* Support and contribute to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities**Working Conditions**This position will be working at a windows facility and make deliveries at jobsites in all weather conditions.Physical Requirements* Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.* Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions* Ability to sit for an extended period of time* Ability to stoop, bend, and walkWe know that without great people, we can't be a great company.
