Store - Optometric Technician

Position Overview Target Optical, part of EssilorLuxottica, is seeking a Full‑Time Optometric Technician to provide exceptional patient service and ensure the highest quality of care. General Function The Optometric Technician creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering outstanding patient service and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. Major Duties And Responsibilities Greets guests promptly and effectively when they enter the store. Determines the reason for the guest’s visit, explains in‑store procedures and required paperwork or tests, and provides appropriate time‑frame guidance. Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully, identifies special needs, and consults with opticians, doctors, or retail management when necessary. Shows patience and courtesy with indecisive or difficult guests and patients. Performs work accurately and thoroughly while managing time pressure and guest volume; resolves unsatisfied guests quickly. Demonstrates knowledge of appointment booking, scheduling procedures, and computer operation. Organizes and files all patient records efficiently. Places contact lens orders, processes shipments, and submits invoices for payment. Accurately operates the POS system, gathers payments, and follows closing procedures. Maintains store appearance, keeps displays clean, attractive, and organized. Reports potential safety opportunities to management. Follows safe work practices and complies with safety/regulatory requirements, including proper storage of supplies and chemicals. Performs pre‑examination testing accurately, explains measurements, and answers patient questions. Provides coaching and guidance on contact lens care and handling. Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the optometrist as needed. Basic Qualifications Minimum one year of strong guest‑service experience (internal or external). High school graduate, GED, or equivalent experience. Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in basic math and cash handling. Sales skills and knowledge of store merchandise. Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in guest service, retail, or the optical industry. Pay & Benefits Pay range: $25.60 per hour. Eligibility for a bonus and/or commission plan and a competitive benefits package including health care, retirement savings, paid time off, vacation, and employee discounts.
